Our Commitment
Winora's Hope Counseling is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to all individuals, including those with disabilities. We believe that everyone deserves equal access to mental health information and services, and we strive to provide a website experience that is inclusive, usable, and welcoming to all.
We are actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of our website in conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
Measures We Take
To support accessibility, Winora's Hope Counseling takes the following measures:
- Semantic HTML: We use proper heading structure (H1–H3), landmark elements, and semantic markup to support screen readers and assistive technologies.
- Color Contrast: Text and interactive elements are designed to meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA minimum contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
- Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements — including navigation menus, buttons, and links — are accessible via keyboard navigation.
- Alt Text: All meaningful images include descriptive alternative text. Decorative images are marked appropriately so screen readers can skip them.
- Resizable Text: Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
- Focus Indicators: Visible focus rings are maintained on all interactive elements for keyboard users.
- Responsive Design: The website is fully responsive and functions on a wide range of devices, screen sizes, and orientations.
- Reduced Motion: Animations respect the
prefers-reduced-motionmedia query for users who are sensitive to motion.
Known Limitations
While we strive to adhere to WCAG 2.1 AA standards, some content on our website may not yet fully conform. We are continuously working to identify and address accessibility barriers. Known areas of ongoing improvement include:
- Third-party embedded content (such as scheduling widgets) may have accessibility limitations outside of our direct control. We encourage users who experience difficulty to contact us directly to schedule an appointment.
- Some older PDF documents linked from the site may not be fully accessible. We are working to provide accessible alternatives.
Requesting Accommodations
If you are a person with a disability and require accommodations to access our services — including counseling sessions, intake forms, or any aspect of our practice — please contact us. We are happy to provide reasonable accommodations, including:
- Telehealth sessions for clients who cannot travel to our office
- Alternative formats for intake and consent documents
- Extended session times or scheduling flexibility
- Communication via email or text for clients with hearing impairments
